2020 Summer Camp Descriptions 

Campers enjoy canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, games of all kinds, nature study, hiking, Bible study, and worship.  Hopewell is the place to make lifelong friendships while growing in faith and enjoying the awe and wonder of all of God's creation.  Come and see the exciting camp schedule we have planned for this summer.

Day Camp

Whether you want a taste of camp or just another opportunity to be a part of the Hopewell summer experience, this is your  chance! 

 

Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm provides lots of time for playing games, swmming,canoeing, hiking,archery, arts and crafts, Bible Study, and so much more. Campers will go home each evening and return to camp the following morning for a new and exciting day. *Lunch and a healthy snack will be provided daily. 

Wee Bit Camps

Wee Bit Camp is a short 3-day experience designed for first time campers. While at Hopewell, Wee Bit campers will enjoy swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, nature studies, games and loads of fun! This confidence building session is the perfect beginning for a long-term Hopewell camper.

Discovery Camp provides an exciting week of fun for younger campers thst introduces them to the 'all-around' camp experience. Campers stay for a full week and enjoy camp activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, canoeing, archery, Bible Study, cooking out, nature study, hiking, dancing, games and more! 

Explorer Solve It!

Do you love a good mystery?  Are puzzling quests fun to you?  Then, this session is just the right challenge for you! During this week, campers will embark on a week of daily challenges, involving hunts, brain teasers, physical obstacles and even our FIRST Hopewell Escape Room!  Traditional camp activities will be woven in between, so this is sure to be one amazing week.

Explorer Rope & River

Ready to go on a mini-adventure?  For this session, campers will hone their canoe and kayak skills on Hopewell’s Lake Andrew, adding scavenger hunts and games, even after dark!  Then, on Wednesday, those skills will be put to good use as we head over to Bear Creek in Tishomingo State Park for a morning canoe excursion.  After lunch and some leisure time at the park, campers will be able to enjoy time experiencing some beginner rock climbing on the majestic faces that Tishomingo has to offer.  After dinner around a campfire, we will return to camp for traditional activities for the remainder of the week.  Come and join us for the adventure-it’s sure to be a fun ride!

Explorer Tree House Sherwood

Come and experience all the exciting things that nature provides during our Tree House Sherwood camp. Campers will reside in our special Tree House cabin during this week of camp. Through Challenge Course, nature study/crafts,camping out,learning outdoor living skills, archery, canoeing, and other fun activities, campers will build new skills and grow strong friendships.

Come and experience all the exciting things that nature provides during our Sherwood camp. Just like our traditional Tree House Sherwood camp, without the trek to Tree house every day! Campers will participate in all same Sherwood activites, but will stay in a cabin at basecamp. Through Challenge Course, nature study/crafts,camping out,learning outdoor living skills, archery, canoeing, and other fun activities, campers will build new skills and grow strong friendships. 

Explorer  Up + Atom!

What do rockets, slime, mushrooms, and culinary chemistry have to do with one another? If you guessed Explorer Up + Atom, then you would be correct! New this summer is our spin on science camp. We wll be weaving in a little science into our traditional camp so this is sure to be one amazing week. We hope you will join us for what is sure to be an explosively  fun week at Hopewell! 

Night Owl

A full week of Night Owl Camp...for the whole camp. During this session, all campers will be night owls. We will toss the regular camp schedule in the trash, as we stay up late, eat meals later, snack late and play late.Evening activities will include campfires, night hikes, worship, camping, glow-in-the-dark games and more. To complete our week, we will have an exciting late night dance RAVE on Friday evening. Woo Hoot!

This is an exciting adventure trip for those who want to do it all!  These campers will be traveling to east TN to spend one day exploring the wild caves of Raccoon Mountain. But, we won't stop there!  One day will be spent hiking the gorgeous, waterfall-packed trails of Cloudland Canyon State Park and head to the Ocoee River for an exciting whitewater rafting experience.  3xs the fun!
 

 

 

Adventures in Leadership

Type 1 Diabetes Camp

10-15 years of age

Children and Youth with Type 1 Diabetes can enjoy all of the fun of summer camp while learning more about living with diabetes. One of the great things for the camper is that living with diabetes is the norm for the week, so everyone counts carbs, checks blood sugars, and tries to balance food, insulin, exercise and loads of fun. Campers are encouraged to develop age appropriate responsibilities for maintaining their diabetes.

Children with Type 1 Diabetes can enjoy all of the fun of camp during this shorter, "beginners" session for our younger campers.Campers will participate in activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, fun games, nature study, canoeing and more during this 2 night/3 day medically staffed session.
